October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October 5, 2012

The month of October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence affects all ages, races, socioeconomic, educational, religious, and occupational segments of our society. With awareness of domestic violence on the rise, we can come together to support victims and hold perpetrators accountable. The purple ribbon is associated with this effort. The color purple represents courage, survivial, honor, and a dedication to ending domestic violence. Do what you can to raise awareness throughout the month and beyond. Wear purple, like we did, to show your support. Take a few minutes to learn about the problem of domestic violence. Donate goods or money to help domestic violence centers in your area.
