Governor’s Office for Children and Families Launches Great Start Georgia Website – www.greatstartgeorgia.org
The Governor’s Office for Children and Families (GOCF) has launched a new website for Great Start Georgia (GSG) in an overall effort to ensure that Georgia’s families and communities are able to meet the needs of expectant parents and children birth to age five and their families. The system is designed to create a community culture of care, encouragement, and support for all families before and after the birth of a child.
Through the website, families wishing to receive community services and supports, can access the Great Start Georgia Information and Referral Center provided by the Department of Public Health. The website also supports home visiting staff in their work with families so that parents can realize their goals for raising happy, healthy children.
Currently, seven counties have received federal funding from the GOCF to embed evidence-based home visiting in their local GSG systems, affording Georgia the opportunity to create a statewide home visiting infrastructure and better coordinate community-based services and supports.
