Trainings & Events

The Prevention and Family Support Division of the Governor's Office for Children and Families (GOCF) sponsors several trainings and events throughout the year that may be beneficial for service providers. See below for information and registration for these trainings.

Web-Based Trainings
Through partnership with Care Solutions, Inc., GOCF has made several online trainings available to interested participants. These trainings provide CEUs free of charge to participants!

Why online training?
GOCF is committed to "Supporting Communities...Empowering Families...Connecting Youth." The mission of the Governor's Office for Children and Families (GOCF) is to build capacity in communities to improve outcomes for Georgia's children, youth and families. Free online trainings for providers and families support the GOCF initiatives. New trainings are offered periodically throughout the year through ProSolutions Training.

How do I get started?
To get started, you need a free online training account with ProSolutions Training. If you do not have an account, it only takes a minutes to set it up during the ordering process. The course(s) you order will immediately appear in your training account. Once you've finished a course and test, you can print your professional development certificate, which includes IACET CEUs at no extra cost. Your training record with ProSolutions Training will be kept online, free of charge, and you can also print a transcript, if needed.

Reading to Young Children NEW!

This session offers information regarding the importance of reading, book selection and techniques for reading aloud. Provided by ProSolutions Training and sponsored by the Governor's Office for Children and Families.

Special Needs in the Early Childhood Classroom NEW!
This one-hour course is designed to provide a basic understanding of some of the more commonly occurring types of special needs as well as classroom modifications. Participation in this course will improve understanding of the developmental areas affected by special needs as well as spark ideas for adapting learning environments to meet children’s needs. Provided by ProSolutions Training and sponsored by the Governor's Office for Children and Families.

Mandated Reporters: Critical Links in Protecting Children in Georgia
Who is a mandated reporter? Every child care provider and many other professionals who come in contact with children are important parts of Georgia's plan to eliminate the abuse and neglect of children. In this one-hour online course, you will learn to better recognize the indicators of abuse and neglect, understand your role in responsible reporting, and identify the groups of children that may be at a higher risk of being abused or neglected.
